ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The LeMoyne-Owen College Community Development Corporation in collaboration with the Center for Entrepreneurship offers a Micro Loan Program. The revolving Micro Loan Program provides small loans to micro businesses within the college community and Shelby County. The program comes with the package of technical assistance to business owners and training in various areas. PRIME's Business Development Institution BDI is a ten-week, 30 class hours business development program designed to teach entrepreneurial skill to prospective low and very low-income entrepreneurs. The BDI program includes: lectures, hands-on computer training, interviews, multimedia presentations, videotape, guest speakers, and site visits. Participants must attend 80% of the sessions in order to receive a Certificate of Completion. PRIME (Program for Investment in Micro Enterprise act) is a grant program funded by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). HOUSING DEVELOPMENT LeMoyne-Owen College Community Development participated in the Housing Fair held June 8, 2002. Representatives from builders, lending companies, real estate agents, credit experts and other were there to assist potential home buyers about the many issues involved in home ownership. COMMUNITY SERVICES We envision our community being alive and bustling with people. As the weather warms, we can see business owners bringing up their business to the streets. |
