LEMOYNE-OWEN COLLEGE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION JUSTCARE 180 MINI GRANT APPLICATION JustCare (JC)180 is an innovative, research-based demonstration project designed to address the need for earlier intervention by building neighborhood based networks to help troubled youth turn their lives around – and providing peer family mentors to help families access those services. JustCare 180 is built on several proven methods for positive outcomes for at-risk youth and families, including comprehensive wrap-around services to meet individualized needs and neighborhood-based services to improve accessibility and neighborhood sustainability. JustCare 180 is a strength-based approach to not simply to halt criminal behavior, but to help youth and families achieve health and success at home, in school, and in the community.
· The City of Memphis has provided $800,000 for twelve months to serve 400 – 600 youth and family members in South Memphis and the Hickory Hill neighborhoods. · The fiscal agent for the grant is Tennessee Voices for Children (TVC) and TVC hired and trained 5.5 Family Support Providers are who are housed at the LeMoyne-Owen College Community Development Corporation (CDC) and the Southeast Memphis Community Development Corporation (CDC). · TVC is subcontracting with each of the CDCs to recruit and coordinate a local network of mental health, recreational, health, counseling, employment training, and other service providers to be accessed by JC180 youth and their families. · TVC is providing technical assistance/support to the CDCs to help them build permanent capacity for supporting neighborhood service networks for youth and families.
The following LeMoyne-Owen College Community Development Corporation (CDC) application is for Mini-Grants to address gaps in services needed for youth at-risk for juvenile delinquency activities. These gaps in services have been identified via needs assessment and asset mapping processes. The successful application will address barriers to positive youth development in zip codes 38126, 38109 and 38106 by addressing the following needs: I. Therapeutic Recreation Projects II. Afterschool Cultural Enhancement Projects III. After School Mentoring Projects IV. Summer Camps Projects that address integration of cultural activities such as drumming, dance and/or theatre will receive special consideration. There is also a need for projects to consider ways to enhance the exposure of community youth and families to nature resources, science, technology, engineering, and math as well as “green” approaches to living harmoniously with ones environment.

Proposals must be well organized and no more than 7 pages in 12pt Times Roman font with appropriate in text citations and an American Psychological Association reference page. The application should be used as a guideline. Please respond to all the following questions in your proposal.
